Introducing IDCheck for Shared Branches

4/28/2025

Do you use Shared Branches to access your RiverLand account?

Starting May 1, 2025, members who use out-of-state Shared Branch locations must verify their identity through IDCheck, making in-person transactions safer and more efficient. This new fraud prevention measure allows Participating Credit Unions to ensure that it is YOU who is trying to access your account, not an impostor.

With IDCheck, Shared Branches can now identify and authenticate members with out-of-state IDs through a QR code and one-time passcode with multi-factor authentication.

Here's how IDCheck works:

  1. Scan the QR code located in the branch or visit verify.coop.org.
  2. Select your credit union’s name from a drop-down list.
  3. Enter your member number and the last four digits of your Social Security number.
  4. Upload a photo of your government-issued ID and take a selfie (can be stored securely for future use).
  5. Show your one-time passcode to the teller (passcode is valid for 20 minutes).

Frequently Asked Questions

When would I need to use IDCheck?

Typically, you will be required to complete IDCheck if you visit a Shared Branch and present an out-of-state ID. Some credit unions may also require IDCheck for in-state IDs.

What types of IDs can I use?

You can use any non-expired, government-issued photo ID, such as:

  • State-issued driver’s license
  • State ID card
  • U.S. passport
  • Foreign passport (many are supported)

Note: Military IDs are not accepted with IDCheck due to federal regulations that prohibit photographing them. Please bring an alternative form of ID.

What if I can't get a verification code?

If you’re unable to generate a verification code, your transaction can still be processed. The teller may use alternative verification methods to complete your transaction.

Will I have to do this everytime?

Not necessarily! If you choose to save your info, on your next visit (with the same device and valid ID), you’ll skip most steps. You’ll just need to scan the QR code and get a new verification code.

How is my data stored?

IDCheck is powered by Socure, a leading ID verification provider. Your data is encrypted and used only for verification purposes. For more information, please refer to Socure’s privacy policy: https://www.socure.com/privacy
